Alexx Ekubo’s Cause of Death Revealed by Filmmaker

Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo reportedly died after a prolonged battle with stage 4 liver cancer, according to filmmaker Stanley Ontop.

Ontop disclosed the details in a post shared on Instagram, stating that the actor had been privately battling the illness since 2024. He said Ekubo underwent treatment and later received a liver transplant before briefly returning to work.

According to the filmmaker, the transplanted liver later failed, leading to further complications that worsened the actor’s condition until his death.

He also appealed to the public to avoid spreading false information about the actor’s passing and urged respect for the privacy of Ekubo’s family during the mourning period.

“We request that everyone allow Alex to rest in peace and respect the privacy of his family during this difficult time,” Ontop wrote.

He added that Ekubo’s remains have been deposited at a morgue pending further arrangements by the family.
