Akon says life was easier dating multiple women, sparking debate after his wife filed for divorce over irreconcilable differences.

Senegalese-American singer Akon has said that his life felt easier when he was involved with multiple women rather than in a monogamous relationship.

The 53-year-old artist, whose full name is Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam, made the remarks while reflecting on his past relationships and views on love and commitment.

Akon, who has previously expressed support for polygamy, stated that managing relationships with multiple partners was less stressful compared to his current experience with one partner.

“My life was a lot easier when I had multiple women surrounding me. It is a lot harder with just one woman,” he said.

His comments have generated mixed reactions on social media, with many users debating his perspective on relationships and modern expectations of commitment.

The remarks come months after his wife of 28 years, Tomeka Thiam, filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

Akon made the statements during an interview with Metro Punch.
