Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) will stage the Naija December Experience on December 20 and 21, offering a two-day fashion and culture festival in Lagos.

The event will combine runway shows, pop-up markets, live music, masterclasses and after-parties, expanding the AFWN platform beyond traditional catwalk presentations. Organisers say the programme is designed to celebrate African design while showcasing Lagos’ creative energy and nightlife.

Attendees will see collections from established and emerging designers, explore a curated designer marketplace, and take part in sustainable fashion activations. The schedule also includes DJ-led music sessions, live performances and exclusive after-party experiences.

“Fashion is a language of identity, and Africa’s long-neglected voices deserve to be heard on the global stage,” said AFWN founder Queen Aderonke “Ronke” Ademiluyi Ogunwusi. She added that the Naija December Experience aims to bring heritage, commerce, innovation and celebration together in one space.

Ogunwusi, who also founded Africa Fashion Week London and the Adire Oodua Textile & Training Hub, has positioned AFWN as a platform that links fashion with culture and economic development. She said the vision is for AFWN to act as a catalyst for artistic exchange and sustainable growth, rather than only a runway event.

AFWN has previously served as a launchpad for designers from Nigeria and across Africa. More than 3,000 designers have participated in AFWN and related events, attracting over 90,000 visitors, including buyers, media and industry stakeholders. The 2025 edition is being reimagined to deliver a more immersive festival-style experience.
