President Ruto plans a Cabinet reshuffle, likely sacking underperforming CSs

President Ruto plans a Cabinet reshuffle, likely sacking underperforming CSs, to boost Kenya Kwanza delivery and prepare for his 2027 re-election bid.

Kenya's President William Ruto

President William Ruto is planning a Cabinet reshuffle to improve the delivery of the Kenya Kwanza agenda. Reliable sources indicate that at least two Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) might lose their positions due to underperformance.

According to insiders, the President is focused on creating a team that can clearly communicate his administration’s achievements and energize support for his 2027 re-election campaign.

During a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday at State House, Ruto posed for an official photo with his ministers. Sources suggest this group photo might serve as a record if the reshuffle happens, which could be anytime soon or early next year.

A source close to the matter noted: “The President is very keen to ensure he tames incompetence in his government, and the changes should come very soon. He could start 2025 on a new slate.”

This reshuffle follows a pattern, as Ruto also held a meeting and posed for an official photo before sacking CSs in July. The President is reportedly determined to align his team with his goals and strengthen its effectiveness.
