Kagame's general Kajege Eliminated by FARDC

The Congolese army eliminated Colonel Kajege and his fighters, striking a major blow to armed groups and boosting hopes for peace in the region

On Saturday, March 1, 2025, the Congolese army (FARDC), with support from the Wazalendo, carried out a major military operation in Bilalo Mbili, Minembwe. During this mission, Colonel Kajege, the operations leader of the TWIRWANEHO/RED TABARA armed group, was eliminated along with several of his fighters.

Colonel Kajege was feared for his brutality, leading numerous violent attacks that caused suffering to civilians. Under his command, many crimes were committed, making him a well-known figure in the region.

His death, along with 50 other Rwandan armed group officers neutralized by the Wazalendo, is considered a big setback for these groups threatening peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This success is seen as an important step in the fight against terrorism in the high and mid-plateau areas of Fizi, Mwenga, and Uvira. Many local communities have welcomed the news, hoping for a return to stability and security.

The Congolese government has reaffirmed its commitment to continue fighting terrorism and ensuring the safety of civilians. Authorities emphasize that efforts will not stop until all threats to peace are eliminated.
