Julius Debrah and Team: Guiding Mahama's Transition
President-elect John Dramani Mahama has named an 11-member team to help with a smooth transition of power to Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration. This team, formed under the Presidential (Transition) Act of 2012, will make sure everything runs smoothly as leadership changes hands.
Mahama’s team is important because it ensures the new government understands the state of the country. The group includes experienced individuals in finance, governance, and public administration.
Here are key members of the transition team:
Julius Debrah – Co-Chairperson
Julius Debrah is a politician with years of experience. He served as Mahama’s Chief of Staff and held roles such as Minister for Local Government and Regional Minister for Greater Accra. A graduate of the University of Ghana with a BA in Archaeology and Sociology, Debrah also worked in real estate and agriculture before entering politics. He was part of the NDC Campaign Steering Committee for the 2024 election.
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah – Member
Known as the "Chairman General," Johnson Asiedu Nketiah is the National Chairman of the NDC. His career spans over 30 years, including 12 years as an MP and a role as Deputy Minister for Agriculture. He contributed to drafting Ghana’s 1992 constitution and served as chairman of the NDC’s 2024 campaign team.
Fifi Fiavi Kwetey – Member
Fifi Kwetey brings his expertise in politics and governance to the team, further strengthening Mahama’s transition efforts.
This team, carefully chosen by Mahama, embodies his trust in their abilities to ensure a smooth and effective handover of power.
