The newly elected Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has named Fred Itua as his upcoming administration's chief press secretary.


Okpebholo's media team announced the appointment in Abuja on Monday. It marks the governor-elect's first official appointment as he prepares for his inauguration and the handover of power from the current Governor, Godwin Obaseki, set for Tuesday.


Itua, a seasoned journalist with prior roles at Leadership and The Sun newspapers, will head the Governor's media team.



His academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in English from Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, a Master’s in Media Arts from the University of Abuja, and he is finalizing a PhD thesis in Development Communication at Veritas University, Abuja.


With a robust career in journalism, covering areas such as the National Assembly, migration, health, anti-corruption, and environmental issues, Itua possesses a strong understanding of both national and international matters.


His dedication to continuous learning and skill in cross-cultural collaboration make him a versatile leader, poised to innovate and succeed within a diverse team.
