Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua regrets trusting President Ruto blindly

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua regrets trusting President Ruto blindly. After his impeachment, he now spends time with family and hobbies.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua expressed regret over his trust in President William Ruto, saying he believed Ruto's words blindly as a Christian. Gachagua now understands why former President Uhuru Kenyatta opposed Ruto in the 2022 election. He plans to reveal Ruto's true nature to Kenyans.

Gachagua was impeached on October 18, 2024, becoming the first Deputy President in Kenya to face such a fate. He was convicted by the Senate on multiple charges, including corruption and divisive politics. Since his impeachment, Gachagua has been spending more time with his family, reading, listening to country music, and visiting friends.

“I trusted him, I believed in him. Whatever he told me, I took it as the truth and acted blindly,” Gachagua told NTV.

“I am happy Ruto has come to confirm the many negative things Uhuru used to tell us about his deputy, then I used to doubt the issues raised but not any longer,” he said.“I have had a lot of time to read, listen to country music, spend time with my wife, and visit friends, to exercise and have time to reach out to people out of the country which I did not have enough time there before,” Gachagua said.
