Floyd Shivambu, recently appointed as secretary-general of the MK Party (MKP), expressed that his close relationship with Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, his former colleague in the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), remains strong despite his shift to the MKP.

He highlighted that his bond with Ndlozi goes beyond politics, describing it as a "brotherhood" that has spanned over two decades.

“He is my brother in the true sense of brotherhood,” Shivambu shared in an SABC interview, emphasizing that their relationship is rooted in trust and history, not just political alignment.

Although Shivambu acknowledged Ndlozi’s independent political views, including critical perspectives on Jacob Zuma’s presidency, he underscored that their ideological alignment remains intact.

“He’s my brother, but he holds his own political views regarding how we should handle some issues,” Shivambu noted, adding that while they may differ tactically, they often share common ideological ground.

The EFF has recently seen several prominent departures, including figures like Dali Mpofu, Mzwanele Manyi, and Busisiwe Mkhwebane. Addressing this, Shivambu clarified that these leaders were not recruited by MKP but joined willingly.

He also stated he has no intention of actively recruiting Ndlozi or other leaders from other parties, saying, “If leaders from different political parties want to play that role in MK, we encourage them to come and do so. However, we are not in the process of poaching leaders.”
