During the 28th meeting of the Council of Ministers held last Friday, December 27, in Kinshasa, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense and Veterans, Guy Kabombo Mudiamvita, reiterated the determination of the Armed Forces (FARDC) to restore peace and security on all operational fronts in the DRC.

According to him, the FARDC have strengthened security measures around the territories of Djugu, Irumu and Mahagi in Ituri, which are the epicenters of violence by armed groups, in order to counter all actions against the population during this festive period. According to the minutes of this government meeting, this initiative led to a "significant drop in acts of violence by these groups."

On the other side of Lubero, in North Kivu, the loyalist army regained the initiative and stopped "suddenly" the enemy's advance towards the centre and other localities before launching counter-offensives, benefiting from "excellent coordination of direct fire support".

"This counter-offensive resulted in the neutralization of enemy drone operators and the destruction of their six kamikaze drones as well as the reconquest of the localities of Kasiki, Luhanga, Ndoluma and Mabasa, including several losses of human life recorded on the side of the aggressors.

During these clashes, it was noted that the Rwandan aggressors and their allies use vulnerable civilian populations, particularly children, as human shields, in flagrant violation of human rights and international humanitarian law," reports the minutes of this meeting.

The same source reports that on December 24, 2024, in Nyiragongo territory, the FARDC "heroically" resisted attacks aimed at breaking through their defensive lines and advancing towards the city of Goma.

"These attacks were carried out by Rwandan aggressors, supported by artillery from Rwandan territory. Finally, in the territories of Walikale and Rutshuru, the FARDC also carried out actions against the Rwandan aggressors, inflicting significant losses on them and disrupting their systems," adds the report of the council of ministers.

In the western part of the country, FARDC actions under Operation Ngemba remain focused on the Kongo Central-Kinshasa-Grand Bandundu triangle, aimed at tracking down Mobondo militiamen who have settled in the Popokabaka territory. Furthermore, in Grand Katanga, they have continued their operations against the Bakata-Katanga under the USALAMA operations.

The FARDC was instructed to carry out "decisive" actions against the Twirwaneho armed group from Makanika, which approached the Minembwe airfield intending to control it and disrupt traffic.
