Egyptian Diplomat Muhammad Ali Abdul Amidu

Ugandan security agencies successfully rescued an Egyptian diplomat who had been kidnapped, police announced on Wednesday. The diplomat, Muhammad Ali Abdul Amidu, was abducted on November 8, according to a police statement.


"The kidnappers demanded a ransom of 40,000 US dollars, threatening to kill him if their demands were not fulfilled," the statement revealed.


A joint operation involving both the police and the military managed to track down the kidnappers in Wakiso, a district in central Uganda. During the confrontation, one of the kidnappers was killed, the statement added. Fortunately, the diplomat was rescued unharmed.
