Danny Jordaan has disclosed that he raised R10,000 for bail during his appearance at the Palm Ridge magistrate's court.

In his application, he stated his intention to plead not guilty to the charges of R1.3 million fraud brought against him.

Jordaan was taken into custody at his home on Wednesday morning. Addressing the court, he said, “I intend to plead not guilty to the charges. I have not committed those offenses. I have no intention to live abroad. It is in the interest of justice for me to get bail. My release will not disturb public order.”

The state confirmed that it would not oppose Jordaan’s bail application.

On Tuesday, Jordaan also filed papers in the Johannesburg high court to stop his arrest and prosecution. According to his affidavit, the planned arrest was communicated on November 7 by "Captain Magano" to his attorney, Victor Nkwashu.

Jordaan stated that Magano informed his attorney about arrest warrants issued for both himself and his co-accused, Gronie Hlunyo, Safa’s CFO. Magano allegedly intended to arrange their surrender on November 13, 2024.

At the heart of the case are allegations that Jordaan and Hlunyo misappropriated R1.3 million of Safa funds without authorization.

Johannesburg High Court judge Willem Wepener’s secretary, Mornay Moolmaan, confirmed that the matter had been enrolled and was set to be heard on Thursday.
