The charity concert Solidarité Congo will still take place on April 7, 2025, at the Accor Arena in Paris, as originally planned. The organizers have confirmed that the event will go ahead despite recent criticism from Rwanda, which pointed out that the date coincides with the memorial day of the genocide against the Tutsis.

This concert is not just about music it is about helping children in the Democratic Republic of Congo who are suffering because of war in the eastern part of the country. All the money raised from ticket sales will go to local aid groups working in Goma and to the "Give Back Charity" foundation created by the artist Dadju.

Why April 7?

Rwandan regime has shared concerns about the date, as April 7 is also the International Day of Commemoration of the Tutsi Genocide in Rwanda. Some groups, including UNICEF, asked for the concert to be postponed. However, the organizers explained that the date was not chosen for political reasons. It was simply the only date when all the artists and the venue were available.

Elvis Adidiema, director of Sony Music Francophone Africa, said:

“The goal of this concert is to help those who are suffering, not to hurt anyone. We respect all memories and all people.”

A Concert of Peace and Solidarity

Even with the controversy, the artists and organizers are standing strong in their commitment. The show will include performances from well-known musicians like Gims, Youssoupha, Dadju, Ninho, Gazo, and Kalash Criminel. These artists are using their voices to share a message of peace, unity, and love for the children affected by war.
