Aiyedatiwa and APC Rally for Progress: Tinubu Urges Support in Ondo Election

Bola Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has labeled opposition party members as "reactionary politicians." This statement was made on Wednesday in Akure during the grand finale of the campaign rally for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Ondo State's upcoming governorship election.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu questioned whether past governors of the state, living or deceased, would have supported any reactionary parties. He emphasized that voting for the APC ensures continued progress and development in the South-West region.

Using the occasion to announce the approval of a federal teaching hospital for the state, Tinubu said: “If Ajasin were still alive, is he going to vote for the APC or reactionary party? “If Akeredolu were to be alive, is he going to vote for the APC or the reactionary party? “Would Mimiko vote for the APC or reactionary party? “I urge you to come out en masse to vote for APC for the people of the South-West. Ondo State has two senior ministers, to whom much is given, much is expected.”

The president urged voters to support the APC for continued progress in the state.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the APC candidate, assured voters of his loyalty and commitment to the state’s progress.

Reflecting on his time with the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Aiyedatiwa pledged to build on the foundation of his predecessor and do even more for Ondo State.

At the rally, the Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, declared that the APC was fully prepared for victory, aiming to win across all 18 local government areas.

Similarly, the Chairman of the APC Campaign Council for the Ondo Election, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, encouraged supporters to focus on voting rather than engaging in conflicts with opposition members. “Nobody should fight with the opposition other than speaking with their vote for APC,” he said, expressing confidence in the party’s success and promising gratitude to the electorate for their support.

The National Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Abdulahi Ganduje, also pledged his support for Aiyedatiwa and presented the party’s flag to the candidate and his running mate, Dr. Olayide Adelami. This gesture signified the party’s unity and determination to secure victory in the forthcoming election.
