Minister Thembi Simelane
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has not yet decided if charges will be brought against Human Settlements Minister Thembi Simelane or singer Kelly Khumalo. Simelane is being investigated for allegedly receiving a loan from a VBS-related financial services provider during her time as Polokwane mayor in 2016.
At a media briefing, Gauteng's Director of Public Prosecutions, Advocate Sibongile Mziyathi, highlighted recent prosecution successes, including the conviction of former VBS chairperson Tshifiwa Matodzi.
When asked about Simelane's case, Mziyathi said, “A question pertaining to a specific individual, whether they are under investigation or not, is not something that we went to confirm because it may compromise the investigation going forward.”

The National Prosecuting Authority is undecided on prosecuting Minister Thembi Simelane for alleged corruption linked to VBS Bank, while Kelly Khumalo faces implications in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial.
