Absa Bank Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to helping Tanzanian women grow in their careers and leadership roles.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam at the 10th anniversary and graduation ceremony of the Female Future Programme, Absa Bank Tanzania CEO, Mr. Obedi Laiser, emphasized the bank’s support for the initiative, which is run by the Association of Tanzanian Employers (ATE).

“At Absa, we have a brand promise that says, ‘Your Story Matters.’ In line with this, we believe the stories of Tanzanian women matter. That is why we partnered with ATE to support this initiative as sponsors,” Mr. Laiser stated.

He noted that Absa Bank has worked closely with ATE for the past ten years and has seen many graduates benefit from the programme. “Today, we celebrate four more graduates from our institution,” he added.

Highlighting Absa’s commitment to gender equality, Mr. Laiser mentioned that women hold key leadership positions at the bank. “We have various departments, including four business divisions, three of which are led by female directors who were recently promoted to executive positions. Our achievements cannot be separated from the role played by women leaders,” he said.

One of Absa’s graduates from the programme, Ms. Ikunda Kishimbo, who serves as Head of Resourcing, praised the initiative for boosting participants’ confidence and sharpening their professional skills.

The Female Future Programme focuses on increasing gender equality in workplaces by preparing women for leadership roles in both the private and public sectors.

Since its launch in 2015, the programme has trained 493 participants from different industries.
