The UEFA Champions League matches on January 21, 2025, were filled with excitement and crucial outcomes. Liverpool secured their spot in the knockout stages by defeating Lille 2-1 at Anfield. Mohamed Salah scored his 50th European goal for the club in the 34th minute. Although Lille equalized after Aïssa Mandi received a red card, Harvey Elliott restored Liverpool's lead, ensuring their progression to the last 16.


In another thrilling match, FC Barcelona achieved a dramatic 5-4 victory over Benfica at the Estádio da Luz. Trailing 4-2 with just 12 minutes left, Barcelona mounted a comeback with Robert Lewandowski converting two penalties and Eric García scoring a header to level the score. The decisive moment came in the 96th minute when Raphinha scored the winning goal, propelling Barcelona into the knockout stages.


Atlético Madrid also showcased resilience by defeating Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 at the Metropolitano. Despite being reduced to ten men after Pablo Barrios's dismissal in the 25th minute, Julián Álvarez scored twice, including a 90th-minute winner, securing vital points and moving Atlético into the top eight.
