Neymar has agreed to take a lower salary so he can return to Santos after his £130 million-per-year deal with Al-Hilal was ended.

The 32-year-old will now sign a short-term contract with his first club. Neymar has accepted a six-month deal with Santos as he looks to restart his career and earn a spot in Brazil’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

His new contract gives him a base salary of about £135,507 (R$1 million) per month. On top of that, he will receive up to 90% of his image rights.

This setup is similar to his deal at Santos from 2010 to 2013. At that time, Neymar had a base salary of £40,683 (R$300,000) but made about £429,147 (R$3.3 million) per month due to his image rights.

Now, Santos believes Neymar’s earnings could reach £819,433 (R$6 million) per month. Reports from De Primeira via UOL Esporte say this means his base salary will make up only 18% of his total yearly earnings.
