Kim Jong-Un Bans Premier League Teams Over South Korean Players
North Korea bans Tottenham, Wolves, and Brentford matches over South Korean players.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has banned Tottenham Hotspur’s matches from being shown in the country. According to The UK Sun, this decision comes because Spurs' captain, Son Heung-min, is South Korean, and Jong-Un does not want games featuring South Korean players to be broadcast.
This means the North Korean leader will miss a major game on Saturday when Tottenham faces his favorite team, Manchester United.
Last year, North Korea also blocked coverage of Wolverhampton Wanderers because they have South Korean forward Hwang Hee-chan. Similarly, Brentford’s games were not aired due to their South Korean defender, Kim Ji-soo.
In North Korea, Premier League matches are already heavily censored, with games being cut from 90 minutes to just 60. Additionally, these matches are aired before news updates—often around four months after the actual games take place.
