Arsenal legend Paul Merson has said that Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League this season are over.

Merson shared his thoughts on Sky Sports after Arsenal suffered a 1-0 loss at home to West Ham.

The only goal of the game came from Jarrod Bowen, who scored a header in the 44th minute at the Emirates Stadium.

The loss means Liverpool remains eight points ahead of Arsenal, with both teams having played the same number of matches. Liverpool will have a chance to extend their lead against Manchester City in their next match.

Merson said:

“The title race is over one million percent. Arsenal cannot catch Liverpool. They’ve got no forward. They’ve got a young 17-year-old in Nwaneri, who has a bright future, but he struggled today.”

He added:

“Trossard is a bit-part player, in my opinion. There’s absolutely no chance Arsenal can win the league. Even if Liverpool get beaten 7-0 by Man City, Arsenal cannot win it.”

Merson continued:

“I’ve seen enough today to know they are going to struggle until the end of the season. They’ve got 12 games left and will do well to win half of those. Suddenly, the PSV game in the Champions League is a coin toss. They’ve got nothing upfront. They are toothless.”
