Dealing with ants can be a real nuisance, but with these four easy tricks, you can eliminate them for good. Follow these steps to keep your home ant-free.

  1. Keep Your Kitchen Spotless Ants are drawn to food crumbs and spills, especially sugary or sticky items. To prevent them from invading your kitchen, make sure to clean up any messes immediately. Wipe down counters, sweep floors, and store food in airtight containers to reduce the chance of ants finding a food source.

  2. Use Safe Ant Sprays or DIY Solutions While commercial ant sprays can be effective, many contain harsh chemicals. A safer alternative is a homemade solution of dish detergent and water. This mixture works by suffocating ants on contact and is less harmful to your home environment. Simply spray it on any ant trails or directly on the insects themselves.

  3. Set Ant Baits Near Entry Points Baiting is a powerful way to control ants. Place commercial ant baits like Terro near the ants' entry points, or make your own using a mixture of Borax and sugar. The bait will attract ants, which then carry it back to their colony, helping to eliminate the infestation at the source.

  4. Seal Gaps and Cracks Closing off entry points is crucial to keeping ants out for good. Inspect your home for gaps, cracks, and holes around windows, doors, and baseboards. Use caulk or weather stripping to seal these areas and prevent ants from finding their way inside.
