- Peter Okoye Urges Fans to Stop Comparing Him to Rudeboy
Peter Okoye says he's focused on his solo career and wants fans to stop comparing him to Rudeboy and other artists. Peter Okoye is making one thing clear: he wants to be judged on his own terms. The singer, popularly known as Mr P, has called on fans to stop comparing him to his twin brother and former P-Square partner, Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy . According to reports from his recent video broadcast, the Nigerian music star said he is focused on building his solo career and has no interest in being measured against anyone else. For years, the names Peter and Paul Okoye have been linked through the massive success of P-Square, one of Africa's most influential music groups. But Mr P says it is time for audiences to allow him to carve out his own path. The singer stressed that he brings something unique to the table and wants fans to appreciate him as an individual artist rather than constantly placing him in competition with his brother or other musicians. His comments come amid ongoing conversations about the legacy of P-Square and the separate careers both brothers have pursued since the group's split. Mr P also recently opened up about how the duo's brief reunion affected his personal brand. According t o Cool FM Lagos, the singer claimed that his solo career was gaining significant momentum before the brothers reunited. He revealed that his social media growth was particularly strong during that period, saying he was attracting large numbers of new followers daily. However, he believes that momentum slowed after the reunion, impacting the progress he had built as a solo artist. Beyond social media numbers, Mr P used the opportunity to reflect on his place in the Nigerian music industry. The artist argued that his nearly three-decade run in entertainment deserves greater recognition, pointing to his continued relevance in an industry known for constant change. The comments highlight a broader challenge faced by artists who emerge from iconic groups. While fans often celebrate the history that made them famous, many performers eventually seek to establish identities beyond the partnerships that defined their early success. For Peter Okoye , the message is simple: respect the legacy of P-Square, but allow Mr P to stand on his own. As he continues his solo journey, he wants the conversation to focus less on comparisons and more on the music and career he is building today. - Emmanuel Uduaghan Biography: Life, Family and Delta Legacy
Emmanuel Uduaghan’s biography: his medical training, Delta governorship, election battles, family and death on 19 October 2026, aged 71. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, the Nigerian medical doctor who governed Delta State from 2007 to 2015, died on the morning of Monday, 19 October 2026. He was 71. His family announced the death in a statement signed by Toju Uduaghan and reproduced by Premium Times . Before becoming governor, Uduaghan had served as health commissioner and secretary to the state government. His public career linked clinical medicine, state administration and the fiercely contested politics of the Niger Delta. In office, he became associated with healthcare programmes, infrastructure investment and an economic ambition captured in the phrase “Delta Beyond Oil”. His later years brought a Senate bid and repeated changes of party. Who was Emmanuel Uduaghan? Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan was a Nigerian doctor and politician who served as Delta State governor from 2007 to 2015. Previously the state’s health commissioner and secretary to government, he promoted the Delta Beyond Oil agenda. His family announced his death on 19 October 2026, aged 71. A death followed by official mourning The family’s statement marked the end of a public career that stretched across successive administrations. It remembered Uduaghan both as a former officeholder and as a father and family elder. Its account placed his death on Monday morning. Channels Television separately reported confirmation from a family member . Its coverage also carried Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s condolences to Roli Uduaghan, the children and the wider family. Oborevwori praised his predecessor’s contribution to infrastructure and his work across ethnic differences. Those remarks were a tribute from the incumbent governor. Delta subsequently declared a three-day mourning period, effective from 19 October. According to The Guardian’s report of the state directive , Secretary to the State Government Kingsley Emu signed the statement, and flags on public buildings were ordered flown at half-mast. The announcement gave the mourning a formal statewide expression beyond individual condolence messages. From Warri North to medical practice Uduaghan was born on 22 October 1954 in Warri North, in present-day Delta State, and was of Itsekiri origin. He died three days before his 72nd birthday. The distinction matters: his age at death was 71. His education included Federal Government College, Warri, followed by medicine at the University of Benin. PUNCH’s account of his education and professional background places his university studies between 1975 and 1980. He obtained an MBBS degree and later a diploma in anaesthesia. Medicine was his first profession, rather than an honorary title acquired through politics. He worked at the Delta Steel Company and subsequently at hospitals in Warri and Benin City. His clinical work included anaesthesia, a field concerned with patients’ care before, during and after surgical procedures. He established a private medical practice in 1994. His professional associations included the Nigerian Medical Association, while his involvement in Junior Chamber International connected him with leadership and civic activity outside hospital work. Those experiences preceded his appointment to the state executive. ADVERTISEMENT The route through Ibori’s administration Uduaghan entered senior state government in 1999, when Governor James Ibori appointed him commissioner for health. He held that portfolio until 2003, then became secretary to the state government, serving until 2007. The progression moved him from a professional sector into the coordination of government more broadly. As health commissioner, his responsibilities were directly connected to his medical training. As secretary to government, he worked within the executive machinery across departments. By the time he sought the governorship, he had experience in both positions. TVC’s retrospective profile traces that administrative path. Uduaghan succeeded Ibori as governor in May 2007 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party. His governorship would be remembered for its programmes and for the legal contest surrounding his first election. The annulment, rerun and second term The usual description of Uduaghan as governor from 2007 to 2015 compresses an important interruption. A court overturned his 2007 election, leading to a rerun in January 2011. He was declared the winner and returned to office before contesting that year’s regular governorship election. Contemporary Reuters reporting ahead of the April 2011 elections recorded both the rerun result and the continuing dispute. Great Ogboru, his principal opponent, questioned the conduct of the rerun, and supporters alleged rigging. Those were allegations in an electoral dispute; they should not be confused with a criminal conviction. Uduaghan won the April 2011 governorship election and served a second term. He left office on 29 May 2015 and was succeeded by Ifeanyi Okowa. The sequence separates three distinct events: the original 2007 election, the January rerun and the April election for the next term. What “Delta Beyond Oil” meant The central economic idea associated with Uduaghan’s administration was diversification. Delta Beyond Oil proposed using the opportunities available to an oil-producing state to build a broader economic base, including infrastructure, enterprise, education and agriculture. His 2014 budget presentation, delivered on 18 December 2013 , explained the policy in terms of volatile oil prices, employment and the limitations of dependence on petroleum. It connected transport investment and other projects with that wider objective. The same address discussed maternal, under-five and rural healthcare programmes, scholarship support and hospital development. Asaba International Airport was among the infrastructure projects associated with his administration. These were different instruments within a broader development agenda: public services on one side, and connectivity and economic investment on the other. ADVERTISEMENT The programme’s ambition should be distinguished from its eventual results. A budget speech records priorities and government claims; it does not, by itself, establish how far poverty fell or the economy diversified. Uduaghan’s lasting policy association is with the effort to frame that transition as a central task of government. Politics after Government House Leaving the governorship did not end Uduaghan’s political activity. In August 2018, he moved from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress. In a statement published by TheCable at the time , he presented engagement with the federal administration as a route towards development and a more durable response to the Niger Delta crisis. He contested the Delta South Senate seat in 2019 but lost to James Manager. In September 2020, he returned to the PDP. TheCable’s contemporary report of that return identified the ward-level renewal of his membership and his stated intention to strengthen the party. He later announced retirement from active politics in 2022, but his affiliations continued to change. TVC’s retrospective records another move to the APC in May 2025. His later career therefore extended beyond the tidy endpoint of his final day as governor. Roli Uduaghan and his family Uduaghan was married to Roli Uduaghan. Their long marriage appeared in public reporting before his death: P.M. News covered their 33rd wedding anniversary in February 2021 . The presidential condolence and Oborevwori’s tribute both addressed Roli and the children. Toju signed the family announcement. The immediate account of his death was therefore a statement issued on the family’s behalf, alongside the institutional tributes that followed. Emmanuel Uduaghan’s timeline Year Event Significance 1954 Born on 22 October Beginning of a life rooted in Warri North 1975–1980 Studied medicine at the University of Benin Trained for his first profession 1994 Established a private medical practice Expanded his clinical career 1999 Became health commissioner Entered senior state government 2003 Became secretary to government Moved into wider executive administration 2007 Assumed the governorship Succeeded James Ibori 2011 Won the rerun and regular governorship election Returned to office and secured a second term 2015 Handed over to Ifeanyi Okowa Completed his governorship 2019 Contested the Delta South Senate seat Sought a federal legislative role 2026 Died on 19 October, aged 71 Family announcement followed by official mourning The public record he left behind In his official condolence message , President Bola Tinubu recalled Uduaghan’s service in three successive state offices and extended sympathies to his wife, children and associates. The message recognised a political life that continued after his governorship. Uduaghan’s record brings together a doctor’s entry into public administration, a contested electoral career and an economic agenda concerned with the future of an oil-producing state. His death closes that personal career. The questions his government addressed healthcare access, infrastructure and economic opportunity beyond petroleum remain part of the public record against which his years in office can be assessed.
