Leicester City boosted their promotion hopes with a crucial 2-1 victory over West Brom in the EFL Championship, thanks to standout performances from Wilfred Ndidi and Jamie Vardy.
The match at The Hawthorns saw Ndidi open the scoring in the 22nd minute. Leicester capitalized on a rebound from Alex Palmer's save off a Vardy attempt, with Ndidi promptly netting the ball. The lead was nearly doubled before halftime when Vardy, awarded a penalty for a foul by Okay Yokuşlu, struck the post, keeping the scoreline narrow as the teams headed into the break.
Leicester continued to withstand heavy pressure from West Brom in the second half. Despite the defensive efforts led by Hamza Choudhury, including several crucial clearances, Leicester extended their lead in the 66th minute. Vardy connected with a cross from Abdul Fatawu to head in his 15th league goal of the season.
West Brom's persistence paid off late in the game when Jed Wallace scored, narrowing the gap and setting up a nail-biting finish. Nonetheless, Leicester managed to hold off West Brom's late charge, securing a win that propelled them to the top of the Championship table.
This victory ended Leicester's recent two-game skid and solidified their position as title contenders, putting them two points clear with just three games left in the season. Conversely, the loss dented West Brom's hopes for a top-six finish, complicating their path to the playoffs.
