KINSHASA — December 22, 2025 | In a major move to boost economic growth and improve public health infrastructure, President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi officially launched two flagship projects on Monday: the Sino-Congolese Industrial City and the Nurse Maman Marthe KASALU Hospital Platform. Both projects are part of the capital’s urban expansion strategy and reflect the government’s commitment to economic diversification and improved social services.

A Mega Industrial Boost: 1,200 Factories, 225,000 Jobs

The Sino-Congolese Industrial Zone, spearheaded by China East Africa Trade Development Co. Ltd, is a $12 billion investment over five years. The plan envisions the creation of 1,200 factories, or 20 per industrial park, making it one of Africa’s most ambitious industrialization efforts.

Target output: 225,000 direct jobs, including 30,000 in the first year

Goal: Enhance local production capacity, reduce imports, and increase export potential

Modern Healthcare Revolution: State-of-the-Art Oncology Hub

In parallel, the President launched the Nurse Maman Marthe KASALU Hospital Platform, a multidisciplinary medical complex that will serve as a sub-regional oncology and specialist reference center. The hospital will sit on a 36,000 m² site, cover 10 hectares, and include a heliport for critical care logistics.

Developed by: Belgo-Moroccan consortium IIDG/TGCC

Financed by: BPI France (French Public Investment Bank), Germany’s Commerzbank, and a Loan totaling €133 million

This platform is expected to redefine access to specialized health services not only in the DRC but across Central Africa.

A New Era of Multilateral Partnerships

President Tshisekedi was accompanied by Congolese ministers, international investors, and representatives from China, France, Germany, and Morocco. The event marks a milestone in Kinshasa’s transformation, with industrialization and healthcare at the heart of the nation’s long-term development vision.

“We are laying the first stones of a Congo that produces, heals, and prospers,” declared President Tshisekedi.
