Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has urged the newly inaugurated executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to prioritise unity, fairness and inclusion as the party ramps up early mobilisation ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
Speaking at Dutse City Stadium after the state executive committee was affirmed through a consensus process at the party’s congress, Namadi said the APC’s internal cohesion would depend on equal access to opportunities for members “irrespective of status or background.”
He described the emergence of the executives by consensus as evidence of “internal democracy and peaceful disposition,” adding that the congress process moved from ward level to local government and then the state level without disruption.
In a forward-looking political push, the governor called on party members to begin mobilisation early to secure victory for APC candidates at every level in 2027. He also renewed a pledge that Jigawa would deliver two million votes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next presidential election.
Namadi argued that Tinubu deserves a second term, citing what he characterised as “bold reforms” and progress in human capital and infrastructure development, and he framed continuity as necessary to consolidate ongoing projects.
Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023, after winning Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election.
