King Oyo is scheduled to be buried on Saturday, September 12, the date that would have marked the 31st anniversary of his coronation. The published programme places the final church service at St John’s Cathedral in Fort Portal before the traditional procession to the Karambi Royal Tombs.

The nine-day funeral schedule published by Pulse Uganda advises ordinary mourners to be seated at the cathedral by 8:00 AM. The service is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM, followed after midday by the procession to the burial grounds. Cultural rites and the burial are expected in the early afternoon.

King Oyo died in the United States on August 27 at age 34 after almost 31 years on the throne. He became Omukama of Tooro at three years old in 1995, giving his life story unusual resonance in Uganda and abroad.
