Former President Joseph Kabila is now facing serious accusations of colluding with Rwanda to destabilize Congo’s institutions, a story reported by BETO and further analyzed by XTRAfrica

A confidential Senate report points to possible coordination between Kabila and Rwanda’s government, with alleged links to the rebel group M23/AFC and secret meetings in Goma.

If confirmed, this could be one of the biggest betrayals in Congolese history

Senate Report Exposes Kabila’s Shadow Dealings

A confidential report from the Congolese Senate, revealed by RFI, shows strong evidence that Kabila may have secretly partnered with Rwanda to weaken President Félix Tshisekedi’s government. Investigators say he provided financial and logistical support to M23/AFC rebels, a militia already known to receive arms and training from Rwanda.

His recent trips to Goma and “hostile countries” are now seen as efforts to coordinate with Kigali.

Kabila called for an “end to tyranny”  a statement that some now believe was code for an uprising.

The Kabila – Kagame Criminal Alliance

For years, Paul Kagame has been accused of fueling chaos in eastern Congo to steal minerals, control trade routes, and weaken Congolese sovereignty. Now, suspicions that Kabila helped him do it from the inside are raising alarm.

If true, Kabila could be Rwanda’s “inside man,” aiding M23 rebels to spark civil unrest while hiding behind political speeches about democracy.

And let’s not forget, Kagame has defended M23, saying:

“I don’t understand why anybody would be against M23.”

Now the dots are connecting.

What This Means for Congo and the Region

  • The Senate is reportedly preparing to prosecute Kabila, a move that could reshape Congolese politics.

  • M23 continues to occupy parts of eastern DRC, while Rwanda denies involvement, despite UN reports proving otherwise.

  • If proven guilty, this scandal could confirm long-standing fears that Rwanda and elite Congolese actors are working together to exploit Congo’s wealth and destabilize its future.

We cannot build peace when our leaders are selling us out from inside,” said one Congolese analyst.

Kagame’s Real Game: Power and Profit

Since the 1994 genocide, Kagame has used the FDLR excuse to justify cross-border attacks, while extracting minerals from the Congo through armed groups like M23. Now with Kabila possibly acting as his political partner, it’s clear this was more than a security operation; it was a calculated move for power, profit, and control.
