A graduand at Rongo University was reportedly caught wearing a gown that belonged to another student in an attempt to fake graduation.
The incident occurred when the rightful owner of the gown confronted the graduand. Dressed in a pink suit, patterned shirt, graduation sash, and cap, he said all attempts to contact her were unsuccessful.
On the few occasions she answered calls, she reportedly claimed she was attending to personal errands.
“Yesterday we had a photoshoot, and she took my gown. We searched all day, but she said she was getting her nails done and then ignored our calls,” the graduand stated.
After failing to locate her, he decided to wait until graduation day to address the matter in the presence of her parents. He demanded proof of her eligibility by asking her to show her name on the official graduation list. When the booklet was checked, her name was not found.
Onlookers urged the young woman to clarify the situation. An elderly woman, believed to be a relative, eventually intervened and pleaded for forgiveness before leading her away from the crowd.
The confrontation sparked reactions on social media. Users criticized the alleged act, highlighting the importance of honesty over appearances.
