The Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the upcoming commencement of a significant repatriation operation, aiming to bring back 70,000 Ethiopians facing hardships in Saudi Arabia. The initiative, set to begin within two weeks, marks the third phase of a larger repatriation effort led by State Minister and Ambassador, Birtukan Ayano.
During a session with the National Committee, which Ayano chairs, the comprehensive plan for the repatriation was outlined, emphasizing the need for seamless cooperation among federal entities and regional governments.
The operation's success hinges on thorough preparation, including securing sufficient funding, logistical arrangements, and establishing adequate shelters for the returnees upon their arrival in Addis Ababa.
Tayba Hassan, the Director General of Refugees and Returnees, echoed the importance of dedicated support from all involved institutions and regional bodies to ensure the smooth reintegration of Ethiopians returning from challenging conditions abroad.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Committee members have pledged to expedite the necessary preparations to ensure the timely execution of this critical humanitarian mission.
