Bobrisky Affirms Male Gender Identity in Court Proceedings

Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has publicly affirmed his gender as male during a recent court session in Lagos. The declaration came amid ongoing discussions about the appropriate pronouns to use when referring to the socialite and cross-dresser.
Bobrisky's gender clarification occurred shortly before he was sentenced to six months in prison without the option of a fine for mutilating the Nigerian currency, an offense he pleaded guilty to. The sentencing was handed down by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos on charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The charges against Bobrisky involved several instances of naira mutilation totaling N490,000. These incidents occurred at various locations in Lagos, including Imax Circle Mall in Jakande, Aja Junction in Ikorodu, White Steve Event Hall in Ikeja, and another event hall in Oniru, Victoria Island, between 2022 and 2023.
Justice Awogboro emphasized that the sentence aims to deter others from engaging in similar acts of currency abuse.
