The ceremony, organised under the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, celebrated achievement across several creative fields. According to the official NACA website, the awards are intended to recognise leading South African creatives for outstanding artistic and technical achievement.
The 2026 ceremony was broadcast nationally on SABC1 on Saturday, August 22.

Winners receive R50,000
The 2026 awards also came with direct financial recognition for recipients.
Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie announced that winners would receive R50,000, while nominees would receive R20,000.
