Morgan Freeman and Clint Eastwood reunited at the 2024 Monterey Jazz Festival, where Freeman, 87, presented Eastwood, 94, with the inaugural Clint Eastwood Award for Cultural Leadership.
“It was a great pleasure presenting my friend, Clint Eastwood, with the inaugural Clint Eastwood Award for Cultural Leadership at the @MontereyJazzFestival last weekend,”
Freeman wrote on Instagram.
“Clint is a true musician: pianist, composer, and a jazz aficionado! We had a wonderful time listening to the incredible music of Kyle Eastwood and Mavis Staples!”
Fans enjoyed seeing the two actors together again. One commented,
“Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman are two legends together, thank you for the valuable traces you left in the cinema.” Another added, “The Legendary Legends.”
Producer Lori McCreary also shared her thoughts on the event:
“Had a fantastic time at the @MontereyJazzFestival. My business partner @MorganFreeman presented our friend, Clint Eastwood, with the inaugural Clint Eastwood Award for Cultural Leadership,” she wrote. “Also had the pleasure of watching @KyleEastwood, @MavisStaples, and other great artists perform!”
Freeman and Eastwood worked together on *Million Dollar Baby* in 2004 and *Unforgiven* in 1992. Freeman also starred in *Invictus* (2009), directed by Eastwood. Reflecting on their work together, Freeman said in a June 2023 interview,
"Clint is an actor’s director. He hires actors, and it’s your job to establish your character. He never says action or cut. He’s his own person on a movie set."
Freeman added that he had begged Eastwood to direct *Invictus*, one of the few films Clint directed but did not star in.
Eastwood is currently preparing for the premiere of his latest film, *Juror #2*, on October 27. Despite his long career and many accomplishments, Eastwood remains low-key, preferring to let his films speak for themselves.
