Gospel Singer Aduke Gold Passes Away After Illness

Nigerian gospel music has suffered another significant loss with the passing of singer Aduke Ajayi, widely known by her stage name Aduke Gold. The tragic news was confirmed on Tuesday by fellow gospel artist Esther Igbekele through a heartfelt Facebook post. Aduke Gold was best known for her hit single "Nitori Ogo," a song that resonated deeply with her fans.

According to reports from The Punch, a source close to Aduke Gold disclosed that the singer had been battling an undisclosed illness for two months before her passing on Monday at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan. The news has sent waves of sorrow through Nigeria’s entertainment sector, which has experienced multiple losses in 2024, particularly in the Nollywood industry.

Igbekele's emotional post included a poignant image of Aduke Gold with the words "Rest in Peace" prominently displayed. She expressed her grief, writing, "A general has fallen. Rest in Peace," a sentiment that has been echoed by numerous fans and friends who have been pouring in their condolences since the news broke.

Aduke Gold's Musical Legacy

Aduke Gold's music, characterized by its spiritual depth and emotional resonance, earned her a dedicated following. Her most notable track, "Nitori Ogo," brought her widespread acclaim and solidified her place in the gospel music scene.

In addition to her musical career, Aduke Gold was a certified fish farmer and a passionate educator. Born on March 16, 1990, she graduated with a degree in History and International Relations from Lagos State University, where she studied under a scholarship. She furthered her education with diplomas in Montessori education, Child Psychology, and other related fields.

Aduke Gold was initially known as Aduke Ajayi, but she adopted her stage name on the advice of her mentor, gospel legend Tope Alabi. Beyond her music, she was the CEO of MatGold Pastries and MatGold Bamini Montessori Schools, where she made significant contributions to children's education, particularly for those with special needs.

Her commitment to both music and education was evident in her extensive work with children and her influence in both gospel and secular music. Drawing inspiration from music icons like King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey, Aduke Gold's rise in the music industry was marked by her exceptional live performances, which became a hallmark of her career.

Aduke Gold's passing leaves a void in the gospel music community, but her legacy lives on through her music and the many lives she touched.
