Winnie Byanyima refutes Andrew Mwenda's claims of edited audios framing Dr. Kizza Besigye, amid his recent hunger strike ending after 8 days.

Winnie Byanyima, the wife of Ugandan opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye, has criticized Andrew Mwenda, the spokesperson for the Patriotic League of Uganda, for alleging that he possesses an audio recording of Dr. Kizza Besigye planning to overthrow President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s government.

According to multiple sources, Andrew Mwenda has repeatedly claimed that Dr. Kizza Besigye was arrested in Kenya while allegedly organizing a plan to remove President Museveni from power.

Furthermore, Mwenda has stated that he intends to release an audio recording in which Dr. Kizza Besigye is supposedly discussing a plot to assassinate President Museveni.

These allegations caught the attention of Winnie Byanyima, who dismissed them, saying that the audios are merely edited clips of Dr. Kizza Besigye's speeches, altered to make it seem like he was referring to President Museveni.

This controversy comes at a time when Dr. Kizza Besigye has just concluded his hunger strike. Kampala City Mayor Erias Lukwago confirmed that Dr. Kizza Besigye ended his protest after eight days, following his transfer to a civilian court.
