Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has called Martin Odegaard the most important player in the Premier League. Arsenal is currently in second place in the league. Most of their best performances this season have happened with Odegaard on the field.
The Norwegian midfielder returned to play against Inter Milan in the Champions League last year after being injured during international duty in September. Arsenal's only two league losses this season happened when Odegaard was missing.
Odegaard came back fully during a Premier League match against Chelsea, impressing both experts and fans with his impact on the team.
Keown told talkSPORT,
"He’s made 102 chances – more than anyone else in the Premier League – and won the ball 41 times in the final third. I can’t think of a more important player in the league." He also said, "
After six weeks out, the way he returned shows his hard work. We were becoming predictable in attack before his return."
