Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has officially rejoined the Super Eagles camp ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda. The forward, who recently completed a season-long loan move from Napoli to Turkish giants Galatasaray, is set to bolster Nigeria’s squad as they look to secure an early qualification for the continental tournament.

The Nigerian national team, under the interim management of Augustine Eguavoen, will begin their AFCON qualifiers with a home match against the Benin Republic's "Cheetahs" in Uyo, before travelling to Kigali for their second fixture against Rwanda just three days later.

Osimhen’s return to the squad comes after a protracted transfer saga involving his former club Napoli and his agent. According to Nigerian journalist Onyebuchi Onokala, the striker has arrived in camp fully fit and ready to contribute to the Super Eagles' campaign.

Alongside Osimhen, other key players like Sevilla’s Kelechi Iheanacho and Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye have also joined the squad, raising the total number of players in camp to 22. Osimhen’s arrival is seen as a major boost for Nigeria's attack, with fans and analysts optimistic about his impact in the upcoming fixtures.

While it remains uncertain whether Osimhen will be in the starting lineup for Saturday’s clash against Benin Republic, his presence significantly strengthens the team’s chances as they aim to secure a spot in the 2025 AFCON tournament.
