Victor Boniface has expressed disappointment after being left out of the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year shortlist. The list, released last month, includes 10 nominees, among them Nigerian players Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong.

The 23-year-old striker played a key role in Bayer Leverkusen’s historic season, helping the club win their first Bundesliga title and the DFB Pokal. Despite these achievements, he was not included in the nominations.

In an interview with BBC’s Oluwashina Okeleji, Boniface said,

“Of course, I’m disappointed not being shortlisted. If it’s about what I achieved last season, I should feel disappointed, but I don’t stress about it.”

When asked who he would pick to win the award, Boniface replied,

“If I’m to pick the winner, it would be Lookman 100 percent, and if I were there, I’d pick myself.”
