France defender Ibrahima Konate has stated that the national team is capable of winning even without their captain, Kylian Mbappe. Speaking ahead of France’s UEFA Nations League match against Italy on Sunday, November 17, Konate highlighted that while Mbappe is an important player, his absence does not prevent the team from succeeding.

France and Italy have both qualified for the UEFA Nations League quarterfinals, with the upcoming match determining the top spot in their group. Mbappe, now with Real Madrid, has been left out of the French squad for the second consecutive international window.

Liverpool’s Konate said during a press conference (via Football Italia):

“Obviously, France can succeed without Mbappé. We can never forget all he has done, but it’s hardly as if we cannot win in his absence.”

France played without Mbappe in October when they faced Belgium and Israel, winning both matches and scoring six goals in total. Under Didier Deschamps, the team has shown resilience and depth in international competitions.
