Uganda and China are working together more closely to boost investment in Uganda’s mining and energy sectors. A special event was held on March 28, 2025, in Shenyang, China, to support this partnership.
The event was called the Uganda–China (Liaoning) Mining and Petroleum Investment Promotion Conference. It was organized by the Embassy of Uganda in China, together with the Uganda Consulate in Guangzhou and backed by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Commerce.
Many top government officials, business leaders, and investors from both Uganda and China joined the meeting. The main goal was to bring in more investment and strengthen cooperation between the two countries, especially in minerals and oil.
Uganda’s Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, Eng. Irene Pauline Bateebe, spoke at the event. She told investors that Uganda is open and ready for foreign investment.
She also shared that Uganda is rich in mineral and petroleum resources and is working hard to improve its systems. This includes making better laws, building infrastructure, and offering good investment opportunities to ensure both growth and sustainability.
This conference shows Uganda’s strong interest in attracting serious investment from China and helping both countries grow through partnership in the mining and energy sectors.
