The Super Eagles have experienced a significant drop in the latest FIFA rankings, falling from 30th to 38th globally. This shift also sees Nigeria drop from 3rd to 5th in Africa.

Following their performance in the African Nations Cup in Côte d'Ivoire, the Super Eagles' form has been less than inspiring. They have lost two and drawn two of their recent matches, including World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic, as well as two friendly matches under former coach Finidi George.

Morocco remains the top-ranked African team, moving up from 13th to 12th globally. Senegal follows in second, though they have dropped from 17th to 18th. Egypt has overtaken Nigeria for the third spot, moving up from 37th to 36th.

Côte d'Ivoire, the African champions, climbed from 38th to 37th, pushing Nigeria further down the rankings. Tunisia maintains its position at 41st, while Algeria slips from 43rd to 44th. Cameroon improved, moving from 51st to 49th. Mali fell from 44th to 50th, and despite South Africa's strong performance in World Cup qualifiers, they remain 10th in Africa and 59th globally.
