CAF President Patrice Motsepe expresses condolences following a tragic bus accident in Zambia that claimed the lives of seven Chavuma Town Council Football Club players.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe has expressed sadness over the road accident in Zambia that claimed the lives of seven players from Chavuma Town Council Football Club. The accident happened over the weekend as the team was traveling to a third-tier league game in the northwest of the country.
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) previously described the incident as a “deep shock.” In his statement, Motsepe conveyed condolences to the families of the seven players, FAZ, and the people of Zambia.
“It is with profound sadness that I learned of the tragic road accident that claimed the lives and severely injured members of the Chavuma Town Council Football Club, who were on their way to a North Western Province Division One League match,”
Motsepe said.
He extended condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, and to FAZ.
“We hope and pray that those who were injured will fully recover soon. May God comfort and console the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased and the Football Association of Zambia.”
