Rubongoya dismisses Muhoozi's deportation claims, reaffirms his Ugandan identity, and criticizes the regime for threats and oppression.

David Lewis Rubongoya, the Secretary General of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has responded strongly to remarks made by General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who claimed Rubongoya was from Burundi and would be deported before the year ends.

General Muhoozi posted on X, saying, "David Rubongoya is from Burundi! We are going to deport him to Bujumbura before this year is out."

Rubongoya quickly fired back, pointing out contradictions in the government's narrative about him.

"But your agents have always claimed I work for your decadent regime. Aren't you making their lies a very difficult sell?" he replied.

He went on to criticize Muhoozi’s comments, arguing that they reflect the very reasons why many Ugandans are fighting for freedom. According to Rubongoya, the government thrives on oppression, threats, and mistreatment of its citizens.

"Anyway, your tweets truly show why millions of Ugandans are involved in a struggle for liberation. God willing, that struggle will end in victory," he added.

In response to the deportation claims, Rubongoya strongly reaffirmed his Ugandan heritage.

"FYI I am a proud indigenous Ugandan – a Mubiito from Bunyoro, descendant of the great Kabalega," he declared.

This exchange adds to the ongoing tensions between the opposition and General Muhoozi, who has been using social media to attack government critics.
