Onuachu, who previously played for Trabzonspor, has drawn interest from his former club following a standout season in which he netted 17 goals in 25 official appearances. Trabzonspor has been eager to bring the Nigerian striker back, but negotiations with Southampton, his current club, have stalled over the transfer fee.

Southampton remains firm on their €15 million valuation for Onuachu and is hesitant to release him despite limited first-team opportunities. However, Göztepe has emerged as a strong contender, presenting a more attractive offer than Trabzonspor. The Izmir-based club is working diligently to finalize the deal, positioning themselves to hijack the transfer from their rivals.

As the talks reach their final stages, a resolution is expected within the next 48 hours. While Southampton is reluctant to part ways with the Nigerian striker, the lack of guaranteed playing time has prompted Onuachu to seek more consistent opportunities elsewhere.

Should the transfer be completed, Onuachu will join fellow Super Eagles star, Victor Osimhen, who recently secured a four-month loan deal with Galatasaray.

At the international level, Onuachu is set to miss Nigeria’s upcoming AFCON qualifier against Benin Republic, scheduled to take place in less than three days.
