Former Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has shown support for Ademola Lookman to win the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award. Lookman, who plays for Serie A club Atalanta, is one of the ten players nominated for the award.

The 27-year-old was also the only African player nominated for the 2024 Ballon d’Or, where he finished in 14th place.

Onazi believes Lookman is the top contender to succeed Victor Osimhen as Africa’s best player.

“Lookman is an exceptional talent. His hard work, commitment, and discipline set him apart,”

Onazi told Brila FM.

“I am thrilled with his achievements and his Ballon d’Or nomination, which speaks volumes about his quality. CAF should get the trophy ready for him—not just because he’s Nigerian, but because he truly is the best player in Africa right now. His performance last season was phenomenal, and he deserves every recognition he gets.”
