Napoli have scheduled a crucial meeting with Chelsea on Thursday to negotiate a potential transfer for Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku. Despite submitting an official bid earlier this week, the offer was not immediately accepted by Chelsea. However, discussions are ongoing, with both clubs reportedly confident about finalizing a deal.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A club remains keen on securing Lukaku's signature as soon as possible. Romano revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that Napoli's management aims to close the Lukaku deal swiftly before addressing the future of their star forward, Victor Osimhen, who is expected to depart the club in the near future.
Romano's update stated:
"Napoli will meet Chelsea today in London as they want to get the Romelu Lukaku deal done even before finding a solution to sell Victor Osimhen. The official bid was sent on Monday, not accepted but being discussed with terms and conditions… as Napoli want to get it done."
With negotiations underway, all eyes are on the outcome of the Lukaku deal, which could significantly impact the transfer market this summer. As Napoli and Chelsea work towards an agreement, Osimhen's potential exit continues to loom large.
