General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of President Museveni and head of Uganda’s army, has admitted that he is the one holding Eddie Mutwe, the chief bodyguard of opposition leader Bobi Wine.
Mutwe was reportedly taken from his home in Kiwango village, Mukono district, by armed men dressed in Special Forces Command (SFC) uniforms. They were driving a van commonly known as a “drone.”
In a shocking post on Thursday evening, Muhoozi wrote:“He is in my basement. Learning Runyankore.
You are next!”He then added:“I captured NUP’s military commander like a grasshopper. If they continue provoking us, we will deal with them harder.”
Many people questioned if it was true until Muhoozi posted a picture of Mutwe looking mistreated—his beard shaved and hands tied—with the caption, “Learning Runyankore.”
Later, Muhoozi posted again on his official X account (formerly Twitter), saying:“I will only release Eddie if Mzee [President Museveni] tells me to. By then, he will have learnt the full story of NRA/UPDF and will see that the NRM is a national party that cannot be defeated.”
These statements have sparked anger and concern, especially among opposition supporters, who say this shows how far government officials are going to silence their critics.
