Jailed: Precious Tumuhirwe

Precious Tumuhirwe, a 37-year-old maid, was sentenced to 40 years in prison for torturing 4-year-old Tumwekwase Claire.

The incident, recorded in a viral video, happened on December 27, 2024, in Kikoko Zone, Kira Municipality. Tumuhirwe fled to Kabale District but was later arrested by police.

Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire condemned the violence and urged the public to report child abuse cases to the police.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the child’s father, Mwesigwa Michael, has been the primary caregiver since separating from the mother two years ago. Tumuhirwe, employed as a maid for four years, was recommended by acquaintances in Kabale.
