The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the nominees for the 2024 Player of the Year award on their social media platforms this Thursday.


The 10-man shortlist includes Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong. Other contenders are Achraf Hakimi from Morocco, Simon Adingra from Cote d'Ivoire, and Ronwen Williams from South Africa.


Ademola Lookman's performance in 2024 has been notable, scoring six non-penalty international goals for Nigeria, the highest among all African players this year. His overall impact on the field is significant, with a total of 33 goal involvements for both club and country. This includes a streak of eight goals and six assists towards the end of the previous season and an impressive start to this season with five goals and three assists.
