Popular Ugandan musician Jose Chameleone is back home after spending more than three months in the United States receiving medical treatment. He arrived in Uganda on Saturday, bringing relief to fans who had long awaited his return.

However, the singer – real name Joseph Mayanja – shared that his recovery is not yet complete. He told the media that he is not fully healed and will soon travel back to the US to continue his treatment.

Chameleone was first flown to America in December 2024 after his health condition worsened. Since then, he has been under close medical care.

Meanwhile, fellow singer Ray G had earlier started a nationwide fundraising campaign to support Chameleone’s return. The initiative asked fans to donate just Shs10,000 each, with the goal of raising Shs1 billion. The campaign aimed to reach 100,000 fans, showing love and respect for the legendary artist who has done so much for Uganda’s music industry.

Ray G said the fundraiser was not just about helping Chameleone financially, but also a way for fans to express gratitude for his decades of hard work and musical excellence.

Chameleone’s return has been met with excitement, but fans also understand that his health journey is not yet over. He has promised to keep them updated as he prepares for his next medical trip abroad.
