A new political storm is brewing after Kumi RDC Hudu Hussein claimed that all Ugandan Members of Parliament, including those from opposition parties, were given 100 million Ugandan shillings each by President Yoweri Museveni.
In a message shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Hussein said even top opposition figures like Ssemujju Nganda from the FDC party and MPs from the National Unity Platform (NUP) quietly accepted the money. He called them hypocrites for criticizing the government while allegedly benefiting from it.
"The President gave each MP 100 million shillings. Even NUP MPs and Ssemujju from the light blue FDC received the money. They lie to the public while enjoying the cash," Hussein posted.
The post has caused confusion and anger online. Many Ugandans are now demanding answers and transparency from Parliament and the MPs accused of taking the money.
So far, Ssemujju Nganda has not responded publicly to the claims. The NUP leadership also hasn’t made any official statement. However, many NUP supporters online have dismissed Hussein’s comments, saying it's just a trick to weaken the opposition’s image.
Civil society groups are now asking Parliament to open an investigation into these alleged cash handouts, especially with the 2026 elections approaching.
If these claims turn out to be true, they could damage the public’s trust in the opposition and raise serious questions about political accountability in Uganda.
